Samuel George Warneford Moffatt was born on March 20, 1851, in Montreal, Quebec.
He was a writer, journalist, and poet. He worked for the parish of St. Saviour’s in South London’s district of Battersea. Moffatt contributed numerous articles to various journals and was the author of the books "Land and Work: An Examination into the Depression of the Agricultural, Manufacturing and Commercial Industries of the United Kingdom” (1888), “New Canadian Poems” (1914), and "An Ode on the Canadian Soldiers Who Fell Near Ypres: with Other Poems" (1916).
In 1882, he married Fanny Ethel Gordon (1856–1942). He died on March 26, 1924, in London, England.
