The files include correspondence between Fitzgerald and friends; correspondence regarding work-related matters between Fitzgerald and various record labels, radio stations, magazines, newspapers, and music festivals and events; and correspondence with musicians and bands that Fitzgerald did research on and wrote about. This series covers letters, postcards, and greeting cards. This series is mostly located in Container 9, with files also in Container 1, 2, 3, 5, 6. Some files in Series 2, 4, and 5 also contain correspondence (please see the file descriptions).

Series contains menus as well as some wine lists from restaurants, hotels, and other dining establishments, such as clubs. The series includes menus from Montreal, elsewhere in Canada, and some international locations.

Fine printing

  • CA RBD Bewick MS 012-1
  • Series
  • between approximately 1800-1820, between approximately 1990-2004
  • Part of Geraldine Cole Fonds

Series consists of various examples of modern fine printing using engravings of Bewick's. Most of the items are image proofs or printed keepsakes from printers such as Havilah Press, Anchor and Acorn Press, Eric Holub, and Gordon Williams. One file contains private press book prospectuses. Also included in the series is a 19th-century printing of a silhouette cut by Thomas Bewick.

CCF-NDP

This series contains documents about F.R. Scott's early political involvement: pamphlets and information about the constitution of the New Democratic Party, as well as are copies of Ontario CFF News (Co-operative Commonwealth Federation's paper).

Written Works

Series contains typed and annotated chapter drafts, manuscripts, printed galleys, draft illustrations, correspondence related to publications, typed and handwritten research notes, newspaper and magazine clippings, photographs, hand drawn and annotated maps, and various published materials related to Dewdney’s career as a writer. Notable works include: Christoper Breton, Wind Without Rain, They Shared to Survive, The Case for Pacifism, Indian Rock Paintings of the Great Lakes, and Birchbark Art of the Ojibway Midewewin. Loose material has been kept in the original order in which it was found, with the exception of the majority of files located in Box 6. Series contains correspondence related to various writing projects, but the majority of correspondence is located in Series 3.

Chronological Files

Series documents the administrative and financial activities of the UCM from 1901-1919. Chronological files include a constitution, meeting minutes, correspondences, memorandums, convention publications, circulars, cheques and invoices, and financial reports. The series is organized and arranged chronologically, with each file contains records documenting the activities of the UCM of a particular year.

Correspondence with literary friends

The series of literary correspondence consists of letters exchanged between William Weintraub and Mavis Gallant (127 letters), Brian Moore (603 letters) and Mordecai Richler (210 letters). These constitute a major source for the study of three prominent Canadian writers in the last half of the twentieth century. In addition, there are copies of 280 letters from Weintraub to Moore and 123 copies of letters from Weintraub to Richler. While the Gallant correspondence dates primarily from 1980s with only 8 letters from 1950-1951, the Moore and Richler correspondence is continuous from the 1950s. This latter correspondence reveals the close involvement of Weintraub in the development of the work of both Moore and Richler.

Birds

The series consists of 121 watercolour paintings of birds, created by Elizabeth Gwillim while she was living in Chennai, India (then Madras). The birds were painted from life rather than from the skins or stuffed specimens used by many artists of her day. Many paintings feature their avian subjects within a full landscape. Some paintings contain inscriptions with species identifications and, occasionally, additional observations about the birds.

Gwillim, Elizabeth, 1763-1807

Papers

The series consists of business and legal documents, correspondence, addresses and memoranda, and newspapers. Many of the legal and business documents are concerned with insolvency cases in Montreal, 1841-1875. While most of the material relates to Brown's political activities and business in Canada, some letters relate to the United States, particularly Florida, and its expulsion of Native peoples. The series includes an index of the Vindicator, 4 Nov. 1836 to 7 Nov. 1837, as well as a journal Brown kept aboard the Mary Frances during a sea voyage in 1838.
