Biographical Information

The Biographical Information series consists of divergent materials, all relating to either Pedersen’s personal or professional life. The series includes: personal legal documents, early education, thesis and dissertation writings, writings for lectures, documents pertaining to professional engagements, grant applications, and other miscellaneous personal documents.

General filing materials

This series consists of general filing materials, the bulk of which is dated 2009-2016, and includes correspondence, Quebec Bar Association Membership, reference letters, royalty statements, and research notes for The Ethical Canary. These files are no longer integrated into particular series due to changes in office management.

Mixed media

This series consists of audiovisual materials and mixed media including CDs, DVDs and cassettes. They include video recordings of Endre Farkas’ plays as well as spoken word poetry.

The photographic material mainly consist of Pyper’s early childhood in Stratford, time at McGill University, travels to the Yukon and Brazil while researching and writing his novels, and living in Toronto.

Eva Dawson

The series consists of correspondence to and from Eva Dawson, her monthly report card, 1873; a series of essays written in Eva Dawson’s hand, possibly for publication in a school paper or magazine, some essays are addressed to the editor, 1867; letters from George M. Dawson to Eva Dawson, written from London, 1870 and Dufferin, 1873; a letter from William Bell Dawson to Eva Dawson, written on board a train, 1882; a letter from Isabella B. Greenshields to Eva Dawson, written from Liverpool, 1884; a letter from Summerhayes & Walford to Eva Dawson, 1887; a letter from John MacGillycuddy to Eva Dawson, written from Phillips’ Square, Montreal, 1887, and letters written to Hope Atkin (future husband of Eva Dawson) from Wallbrae Place and Montreal, between 1889 and 1891.

Constitution and Structure.

Series consists of four subseries: P125/A1 History (1972 and 1987), P125/A2 Charters and Certificate of Incorporation (1975-1977), P125/A3 Constitution and By-Laws (1970-1982), and P125/A4 Seal (1970). Includes a presentation, correspondence, forms, by-laws, statements, seal, a franchise tax report and a certificate of incorporation.

Personal papers

The Personal papers series documents Madeleine Parent's family life, relationships she built as a labour organizer and activist, and writings. Although this series documents aspects of Parent's personal life, it includes substantial documentation on Parent's activist work and research interests.
Sub-series A1 (Education and awards) documents Parent's early and post-secondary education, awards, and honorary degrees from various Canadian institutions. The Family papers sub-series (A2) contains documents related to both her father's and mother's families and from both her marriages. Also included are materials related to the passing of her second husband, Robert Kent Rowley, keepsakes, and photographs of family and friends.
Sub-series A3 (Agenda and notes) consists of calendars and notebooks of Parent's appointments and affiliations with people, organizations, and unions, including the Canadian Textile Council and Canadian Textile and Chemical Union. Also included are notes that Parent kept on various subjects for different purposes. The notes relate to materials found in the Research, writings, and interviews sub-series (A4), which documents Parent's speeches and writings and contains research files on various topics. Also included are transcripts, notes, and agreements related to interviews Parent gave.
The final sub-series, entitled Personal correspondence (A5), contains correspondence and greeting cards, the bulk of which is from the 1990s to the early 2000s. However, there is also some correspondence from the 1950s to the 1980s.

Parent, Madeleine, 1918-2012

Photographs

Series consists chiefly of architectural photography from Italy and France, featuring building exteriors and exteriors and details such as doorways, crests, and capitals. Photographs are mostly undated. One file contains photographs of public buildings in the United States and one photograph of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police garage in Montreal Quebec.
