Biographical history

Vancouver was a naval officer and explorer, who widely explored the North American Pacific coast, including much of coastal British Columbia, and wrote about his experiences.

File contains manuscript (incomplete) by Captain George Vancouver, with correspondence from Henri Masson. The manuscript is titled, "Abridgement of part of a Voyage of Discovery round the World by Captain Vancouver Performed in the years 1790, 1791, 1792, 1793, & 1794 by order of his Majesty Regarding the North West Coast of America." Apparently copied by Duncan McGillivray, whose initials appear at the bottom of the Memorandum (page 2). This document is comprised of extracts of the original work titled, "A voyage of discovery to the North Pacific Ocean and round the world," published in 1798.
