Dawson Brothers was a Montreal publishing and bookselling firm. In 1860, the firm Benjamin Dawson and Son was reorganized as Dawson Brothers, a partnership between Samuel Edward Dawson (1833-1916) and his brother William Valentine Dawson (1840-1826). Over the next twenty-nine years, they expanded their activities, acting as publishers, bookbinders, and newsagents. They opened a branch bookstore on St. Catherine Street East, which Samuel managed. Their stationery and blank-book factory was managed by William. In January 1889, the partnership was dissolved, and Samuel left the firm. William and his son Charles F. sold the bookstores and concentrated on the manufacture and importation of stationery supplies.
