Letter from Hugh Finlay (Superintendent of the Matîres de Poste) to Caleb Green confirming that Finlay will send Green a commission to run post offices in Laprairie, St. Johns (the English name for Fort Saint-Jean at Saint-Jean-sur Richelieu), and a third halfway between the two. The commission includes the right to offer transportation to travellers between Laprairie and Longueuil.
This collection consists of Lemon's accounts as agent to the Royal Exchange Assurance Office, 1804-1831. Also included are miscellanies of verse, 1788-1789 and a translation of the works of Virgil.

File consists of letter from James Forbes to family member Eliza Fothergill, in York. Letter is written on laid paper leaf folded in two with integral address leaf including remains of red wax seal. Letter is dated London, 26th January 1788. Letter mentions that it originally accompanied "a few trifles" for family members, including two little volumes for his niece.

Unsigned document with "Sundries dr. [debtors] to stock" and a list of names of debtors and amounts owed, and an account for several transactions on the verso. This account includes the purchase and sale of an unnamed enslaved Black woman. Though it is unclear whose account this is, the writer of the document was presumably James Morrison. He chose to include this woman in a list of household goods charged to the account, noting that she was sold to Captain Anderson. The rest of the accounts are dated 10 September 1789 and 4 January 1791, and include a table, kettle, some silver spoons, and a horse.
Receipt for purchase of Burney's General History of Music with portrait of Charles Burney
Matted portrait of Charles Burney with a signed receipt for purchase of Burney's General History of Music (4 volumes, London: 1776-1789). Typescript receipt contains the following manuscript annotations by Burney: numbered: no. 156, dated: March 27, 1789, and is addressed to a Miss Cecilia, perhaps a subscriber. The portrait is engraved by Francesco Bartolozzi after an image by Joshua Reynolds, and was published in 1784. Full dimensions are: total: 46 x 32 cm; portrait: 20 x 17 cm; and receipt: 6 x 16 cm.
