Cecil Percy Martin Fonds

The fonds consists of three scrapbooks, and textual records that include obituaries and letters written in memory of C. P. Martin by McGill faculty and former students, index cards of C. P. Martin's religious reflections on the bible, typed and handwritten sermons, C. P. Martin's nature journal, a copy of Francis Shepherd Memorial Lectures 1953-1956, and some letter correspondence. Two of the scrapbooks document C. P. Martin's personal family life (including family trees depicting five generations, his leisurely interests etc.) and his professional life at McGill, with many newspaper clippings about McGill University and faculty. The other scrapbook contains mostly British Medical Journal clippings (1942-1954).

The fonds contains materials that Dr. M. Entin collected for his biography of Dr. Archibald. Mainly include articles relate to tuberculosis, pancreatitis, wound healing, history of surgery, and scientific writing. It also includes letters from Edward Archibald to Mrs. Archibald, letters to Archibald from William Osler and Sir Henry Gray, addenda of Archibald's world journey in 1936, and articles by Archibald.

Some draft chapters of the biography of Dr. Archibald and research data for 100th Anniversary of Royal Victoria Hospital can also be found in the fonds.

The content of the fonds includes letters, photographs, and official documents surrounding the Norman Bethune McGill-China Professorship Exchange at Peking Medical College, in addition to medical pamphlets, typed addresses, several commemorative Norman Bethune items. There are various Chinese tourist brochures and maps that McGregor collected during his travels in China, as well as newspaper clippings, reprints, and copies of articles collected by McGregor about China and medicine in the mid-1970s.

The collection consists of documents pertaining to Dr. H. S. Birkett's medical activities, including 117 bound volumes of patient records (1889-1942), medical notebooks (1893-1896), bound RVH reports (1894-1938), RVH charts (1901-1920) and registers (1899-1917). There are also various letters addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Birkett, a manuscript, newspaper clippings, various degrees and medical association certificates, as well as photographs of H. S. Birkett's personal life and professional life at McGill and elsewhere. The collection also includes various artifacts collected by H. S. B, including military and medical memorabilia collected by H. S. Birkett.

The fonds largely document Dr. Segall's professional activities as a cardiologist. It contains correspondence, notes, experimental notebooks, lecture notes, articles, speeches, patients' records, electrocardiograms, reprints and material pertaining to the Louis Gross Memorial Lectures, 1922-1979. Also included are several electrocardiograph machines, dictation devices, and audio recordings (reel-to-reel tapes, dictation disks, and cassette tapes). In addition, the fonds contain records of Dr. Segall's personal and family correspondence, financial transactions, and various other official and unofficial documents.
