Subseries consists of records kept while Dawson was Superintendent of Education in Nova Scotia, administrative materials, and other records related to his educational career. As Superintendent of Education in Nova Scotia, Dawson kept two notebooks of journal entries and general observations on Nova Scotia schools (box 39). About 35 cm of purely administrative materials (boxes 41-44) were retained by Dawson in his private papers. Most of the correspondence concerns routine matters of Corporation business, staff and student affairs, fund-raising and buildings, but there is a special file on the controversy with Prof. J. Clark Murray over co-education in 1888. Other materials include copies of documents on the early fortunes of McGill, Dawson's Normal School record book, with lists of students and some financial accounts (1859), an office memorandum book (1863-1878), and manuscripts of addresses delivered at university functions, including his resignation speech and a substantial address on the education of women. Dawson also assembled an "Educational and Biographical" scrapbook, largely of news clippings by him or about his principalship (box 39).

Subseries consists of manuscript essays and addresses on science in relation to Biblical criticism, theology and archeology, on his travels in the Middle East, and on missions and temperance.

This subseries consists of other research, writing, and correspondence files related to Wood's research and writing activities (1852-1925), writings of others assisting in Wood’s research projects or written about Wood (1936-1943), and volumes containing multiple publications by Casey Wood from 1852-1943, but predominantly 1920-1938. Some of these volumes include writings of other authors as well. The subseries is composed mostly of publications, manuscripts, and correspondence, along with photographs, clippings, book dust covers, feathers from John III, and printed materials pertaining largely to ornithology, falconry, and Wood's research.
Included in this subseries are 661 incoming and outgoing correspondence (1914, 1927, 1933-1940) including letters, postcards, and telegrams. This sub-series consists of all manner of notes and a variety of secondary materials gathered by Lewis as he researched the life of his grandfather. Secondary materials include historical publications, photocopies of reference works, scientific article reprints, and newspaper and magazine clippings. These series also contains dubbed copies of taped interviews with Penfield obtained by Lewis through the CBC, as well as transcripts of these interviews and others conducted by Lewis in the course of preparing the biography.

This subseries contains records related to properties owned by J.W. McConnell or by companies that he worked for.

Material in this subseries includes deeds of sale, correspondence, blueprints, indurance documents and other related documents.

Subseries consists of chiefly of Osler's correspondence collected by Cushing relating to the period between 1886 to 1904, during which time Osler was in Philadelphia and then Baltimore. Correspondence includes both original letters and transcriptions of letters. In addition to correspondence are some accompanying notes (both by Cushing and by Osler), clippings, articles, and other ephemera related to Osler.

Files which are associated with administration of the MNI, but which contain personal materials and records that belonged to Dr. Penfield.

This subseries consists of assorted clippings and extracts, housed individually or in groups in envelopes or folders.
