In a letter to Percy Nobbs, T.J. Matthews, Archdeacon of Gaspé writes, “St. Paul’s is your church and I think you have a view of the building which as far as possible, should be given unhindered expression. “ (T. J. Matthews, Gaspé, to Percy E. Nobbs, Montreal, 9 April 1953, John Bland Canadian Architecture Collection, McGill University) Nobbs was involved from 1938 to 1953 in every aspect of the work at St. Paul’s from the construction, to stained glass, to the Bishop’s chair and to details of carpeting for the church.
