General Correspondence

The series contains Leon Edel's correspondence, with the majority before 1989. The correspondence ranges from personal to professional and literary, with letters from friends, acquaintances, scholars, authors, and publishers, such as Harvard University Press. Files that are significant either because of the correspondent or due to the extent of the correspondence include W. W. Norton, Anais Nin, Hannah Arendt, E. M. Forster, H. Montgomery Hyde, Geoffrey Keynes, and Allen Ginsberg. Many of the letters represent Edel's ongoing work to acquire copies of Henry James's correspondence and seek out information about the author from his contemporaries. Also includes a number of letters related to various lectures given during the 1960s and 1970s.

Publications

Series contains UCM publications for their annual conventions from 1901-1919. These publications were programmes of their annual conventions and included articles discussing the activities and achievements of the year. The series is arranged chronologically and includes duplicates.

Administrative Files

Series documents the activities that were taken during the hosting of the UCM’s annual convention. Administrative files contain records spanning many years. The series includes a scrapbook, the attendance log for the annual conventions, an account book, and a folder holding UCM journals, interim report, convention programs, memos, publicity, petition to the House of Commons, bulletins, memorials and newspaper clippings. The series is arranged chronologically.

Series includes receipts, expenditures, invoices, accounting books, financial notebooks, shares, and correspondence around financial matters dating from 1907-1947.
