The Harry Barker fonds contains poems written by Harry Barker, including three which were clipped from a newspaper.

The fonds spans just over 100 years, and especially reflects student and community life at McGill University from 1906-2007. Although the Women’s Association's efforts were aimed at providing help and resources to McGill’s students and community, the Association’s members had their own ties to McGill through employment, scholarship, or family member’s scholarship. The Women’s Association’s social and financial contributions to McGill are documented in this fonds.

Most of the records are related to the administrative functions and social activities of the Women’s Association of McGill, which went through several name changes. The series consist of Administrative records, Special Events and Activities records, and Information and Historical Documentation records. Many of the administrative records (such as minute books) are organized by year and reflect institutional changes in the organization. Other series, such as special events and activities, include associational social events and philanthropy activities.

The Administrative records series consists of minutes, financial statements, and other documentation produced in the regular maintenance and functions of the association. Financial records include cash books, transaction records, treasurer’s reports, receipts, expense reports, and statements, which can be found for the Women’s Union (1914-45) as well as the Women Associates of McGill (up until 2007). Meeting minutes and official reports presented by or to the Executive Board span from 1906-2007, with a complete set of minute books from 1914-1955 (Women’s Union and Women’s Associates). Versions of bylaws, constitutions, and attempts at documenting the history of the Women’s Associates exist from 1906-2000 for both the Women’s Associates of McGill and subgroup Women’s Associates of MacDonald College (spanning 1969-1994).

The Special events and activities records series includes records that were produced in the organization of special events and recurring social activities outside of official meetings, such as wartime efforts, social teas, and scholarship funding. Newsletters and promotional material document special events such as the Book Fair (1974-1985), but can be found up until 2007 more generally. The correspondence between the Women’s Association and non-member McGill students found in some files also shows some particular functions of the Women’s Association; this includes letters from the McGill students who received scholarships and bursaries from the Association, as well as correspondence from undergraduate students enlisted in World War One thanking the Association for knitting projects and letters (1914-1920).

The Information and historical documentation records series includes photographic material, compilations of newspaper clippings, and other documents that were published by other sources but collected by the association for the purposes of documenting information about the association over time. The books containing newspaper clippings about the Women’s Association, presumably compiled by members, about their contributions and achievements (1944-1962, 1942-1984).

The Dorothy Brooke fonds contains three items, a McGill University Examinations in Physics I, 6 May 1932, Physics I Answer book I and Physics I Answer book II, written by Dorothy Brooke.

Fonds consists of originals and printed materials that fall into the following three series: records of Vaughan’s work at Royal Victoria College, private papers, and literary manuscripts.

Fourteen volumes of her Royal Victoria College day books, spanning the years 1905-1918 and 1928-1937, combine daily memoranda of events at R.V.C. with materials of a more personal nature. In these books she recorded administrative decisions and comments on staff and students and preserved invitations, programmes, newsclippings, some letters, and notes for addresses. A single volume lists students of the College from 1905 to 1907, and records Susan Vaughan's opinions of their characters and prospects.

Her private papers comprise five diaries for the years ca 1899-1904, 1909 and 1930-1940. The earlier volumes record travels to England and Western Canada, and also subsequent volumes record daily activities and thoughts. There is about 1 cm of correspondence, ca 1914-1915, with Clara Lichtenstein and others.

Literary manuscripts, notes for addresses and clippings of some of Susan Vaughan's printed articles amount to about 4 cm, and cover the period ca 1910-1940. Topics include aspects of modern literature - the Brownings, Thomas Hardy, Virginia Woolf, war poetry, and women in fiction -- educational questions, events at R.V.C., and a long poem “A Fable of Earth”.

The Canadian Officers’ Training Corps, McGill Contingent Fonds consists of two series: historical records and administrative records. The majority of the historical records consist of scrapbooks containing mostly news clippings and personal correspondence (1914-1962). One part, covering 1914-1917, consists of news clippings on the C.O.T.C. and the 148th Battalion.A second group of historical scrapbooks and records begins in 1914 and continues through to 1939. Besides press clipping, these scrapbooks contain photographs, orders, invitations, copies of pamphlets, and other records such as the log book of the Ski Camp, 1935-1936. These scrapbooks were the model for the 8-volume Historical Record of the C.O.T.C. during World War II. These volumes contain a running chronology, orders, press extracts and clippings, statistics, photographs and personal reminiscences. The last volume is a service record of all C.O.T.C. members. These are supplemented by two news clippings scrapbooks for the period 1939-1942. A "Book of the Six Universities Companies'' of the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry was prepared for the unveiling of a memorial plaque after World War II. It contains a historical record and statistics. Other historical files include printed records of the 148th Battalion, correspondence, programmes for the 1962 celebration of C.O.T.C.'s 50th anniversary, and miscellaneous Christmas cards, invitations, programmes, recruiting and activities booklets, and standing orders. The administrative records are composed mostly of minutes, with some reports and official letters (1941-1959), as well as Commissions for Lieutenants (1915-1916), directories and roll calls (1917, and 1939-1949), handbooks (1916), and orders (1914-1929). Also found in the fonds are some scattered periodicals (1915), religious texts (1914), a souvenir book (1918), speeches (1920), photographs, and stationery.

Fonds consists of a photocopy of Kehoe's 93 page report on “English for the Non-English Mother-Tongue Students at McGill”. Also included are sections from Applied Linguistics and correspondence related to her contribution. Other miscellaneous materials concerning bilingualism and Kehoe’s Ph.D. dissertation.

The fonds contains Macfarlane's papers, concentrating on his geological research and his professional work in mining. They comprise: geological and chemical notes made in Germany and England, 1855; geological notes on New Brunswick, 1855-1856, the copper mines of Upper Telemarken, Norway, 1861, Quebec, 1861-1862, and Eldorado Canyon, Nevada, 1887; laboratory journals and records of results, 1851-1856, 1859-1882, 1884-1889; and letterbooks, notebooks and memoranda on geology, 1863-1899.

These papers contain a list of lectures delivered by Drs. Hackett and Rollo Campbell at Bishop's, 1901-1902, a letter from Dr. G.W. Campbell declining an invitation to a Bishop's Graduates' Society meeting, 1902, and an undated manuscript list of physicans. The remainder of these papers are printed materials: newspaper obituaries of medical men, 1911, 1922, a programme for the annual meeting of the Canadian Medical Association, 1911 and menus.

Traquair's papers largely concern his work as a lecturer. School of Architecture lectures in architectural history cover the classical, mediaeval and modern periods (ca 1935-1936), while those on architectural ornament are largely devoted to lettering. Miscellaneous lectures, about 30 in number, were delivered between about 1924 and 1937 to various audiences, such as school children, extension students and members of art and architectural associations. They deal with architectural history, architectural principles both aesthetic and social, and other art forms (painting, carpets, heraldry etc.)

Material relating to Traquair's publications includes drafts of about 15 articles on many of the same topics as the lectures described above, and stemming from the same period. A special series of notes and manuscripts, together with some correspondence, illustrates Traquair's research on Québec arts.
