Letters, writings, and ephemera

The file contains material compiled by Gertrude Henderson, including letters to Clare Gass, poetry and story written by Gass, and other ephemera, such as clippings, notes, and official documents. The story found in the file is a tyescript entitled, “The Witch of the Shubenacadie.” Letters include a memorial from King George to those who served in the war and a letter from mayor of Montreal regarding a special commemorative medal to be worn in commemoration of their Majesties' silver jubilee in1935. Clippings include notices of Gass's retirement and a 2014 on her diary. Manuscript notes oby Gass recount her educational and employment record, including years and places that she was stationed and other documents include her Certificate of Service from the Canadian Expeditionary Force, dated, 1920. The folder also contains assorted later photographs of Gass.

Photograph album of Edgehill School

The file contains a photograph album from roughly 1904-1905, chiefly of photos taken at Edgehill School. The photographs include school exteriors and interiors, including corridors, rooms, the library, and classrooms. School activities such as Drill Class and a 1906 performance of "Alkestis" are also found. Some photographs depict scenes from around Windsor, Nova Scotia, including a bridge and Christ Church Windsor. There are also photographs from two trips: Labrador and Sidney, Cape Breton.

Correspondence from Jennie Jefferson Penfield dated 1924-1930, typed and handwritten sheets, some discussing illness of Ruth Penfield, Christian Science, various family members, a trolly accident involving HKP's parents, etc; a telegram from Carl W Rand to WGP discussing Jennie Penfield's cardiac enlargement.

Letters Patent of Edward VII

Oxford University. Letters Patent of Edward VII, dated 10 Oct., 4th year (1904) appointing William Osler Regius Professor of Medicine ("Reader in the Science and Faculty of Physic for the use and improvement of the Youth in Our University of Oxford"), with great seal of Victoria attached. MS. on paper, written in 1904.

Royal Letters Patent, creating William Osler Baronet: 11 July, second year George V (1911); with great seal Edward VIII attached, endorsed by the College of Arms, and bearing a hundred pound revenue stamp. MS in English on paper.

Dr. Emanuel Libman testimonial dinner.

File consists of records related to a testimonial dinner tendered to Dr. Emanuel Libman "by his pupils, ... in honor of his 60th birthday on the occasion of the presentation of the 'Libman Anniversary Volumes,'" held at the Hotel Waldorf-Astoria, New York. Documents include: list of speakers, including Maude Abbott; a portrait; a menu (on verso of which are manuscript notes in hand of Maude Abbott); and a seating list (see also file number 13).
