Artifacts and activities

This series consists chiefly of artifacts used or created by the Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association at the Scottish Centre in Verdun. The artifacts include commemorative plaques, badges, and sash pins worn by members and officers during meetings and functions, a gavel, a trophy, and framed photograph of Queen Elizabeth II. Some of the artifacts are related to administrative activities, including two embossing machines and blank letterhead and stationery.There is also some textual ephemera representing social activities of the Scottish Centre, such as a list of Christmas carols.

Bewick ephemera

Series consists of ephemera relating to Bewick and his life, including articles and clippings, short biographical pieces, and postcards and products featuring Bewick's work. The ephemera includes commercially-produced items and packaging featuring Bewick engravings, such as wrapping paper and wine labels, and ephemera relating to his place of birth or with his name (for example, matchbooks). One file consists of postcards with watercolours, engravings, and other English scenes. The series also contains a DVD of a film on Thomas Bewick's life written and narrated by Iain Bain. Two files contain clippings and photocopies of articles relating to Bewick; one is a 19th-century clipping originally found by Geraldine Cole between two pages of one of Bewick's volumes previously in her possession. The last file (20) contains 4 original letters from Thomas Bewick to various correspondents, dating between 1813 to 1825. This file also includes a letter on amourning stationery from Isabella Bewick (1881), another 1881 letter from Robert Robinson regarding Bewick cuts, and an 1818 receipt of sale for Esop's Fables.

Series consists of two subseries: P125/C1 Correspondence of the Officers and P125/C2 Correspondence with Members. Includes almost only correspondence.

Earl Nation

Series consists of notes and photocopies compiled by Earl Nation re. Geoffrey Jefferson (formerly Acc. 549), and correspondence with I.N. Dubin, M.D. (formerly Acc. 591).

Correspondence

This series consists of personal correspondence between Farkas and other artists/poets. Both electronic and handwritten mail are present in the files.

2008-2009 concert season

Series consists of programs and recordings for eleven events organized by the Schulich School of Music during the 2008-2009 concert season including by the McGill Wind Symphony, the McGill Symphony Orchestra, Opera McGill, the McGill Chamber Singers, McGill Chamber Music Ensembles, the McGill Baroque Orchestra, and the McGill Jazz Orchestra I, and in the context of the McGill Classical Concerto Competition.

Research Records

This series reflects the researching and writing activities of Dr. Charles Scriver in the field of genetics, biochemical genetics, and pediatrics. These materials are primarily textual and consist of correspondence covering his engagement in projects such as BioMarin (circa 2003) and the Human Genome Project (circa 1995 2003), pamphlets, working papers, grant applications and notices, and mixed media (stamps, graphs) reflecting Scriver’s research and laboratory practices. Here, Scriver’s demonstrated interest in PKU mutations in Quebec, genomics and myriad metabolic issues in children comes to the fore, and demonstrates the reach of Scriver’s influence in the field.
