Slaty-breasted rail (Lewinia striata)

Painting in mat of a small bird with pale face, neck, and chest, with pink-red eyes and (back of) neck, back is speckled warm brown, belly and wings are stripped pale grey/blue and brown. No background. Inscription in bottom centre reads, "Blue-breasted banded rail (hypotenidia striatus)," with another at bottom right, "Rallus."

Baillon's crake (Zapornia pusilla)

Painting of a small, reddish brown bird with pale, striped belly, back and wings with darker spots and edges. Minimal background of flat brown dirt, large grey rock, and very few plants. Inscription in bottom centre reads, "Eastern Bailon's Crake (Torzana pusilla)," along with, "Rallus," firmly pencilled in lower right corner.

Indian, black, red-headed or Pondicherry vulture (Sarcogyps calvus)

Mounted light watercolour sketch of a vulture, with pink head and legs painted very lightly. Not life-sized, no background. Inscription at bottom centre reads, "Black, King, or Pondicherry Vulture (Otogyps calvus)." Another pencilled in lower right corner reads, "(See Portfolio I no.5)."

Indian, black, red-headed or Pondicherry vulture (Sarcogyps calvus)

Mounted light watercolour study of buzzard's scaly feet and talons. Inscription on drawing reads, "No 113 c Feet at large of the brown Vulture." Another on the lower right of the mount reads, "? Immature Torgus calvus Pondicherry Vulture #16 KS See Portfolio I no.5."

Western marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus)

Full scale painting of a brown raptor with lighter face, chest, and tail feathers. Branch perch and some background very vaguely and lightly sketched out, with much smaller bird drawn on another branch in the bottom right. Inscription below painting include, "Circus cinereus (52)," faintly pencilled in lower left corner, and pencilled in the centre below the painting, "Marsh Harrier (circus aeruginosus)," "circus aeruginosis vel spilunotus [sp?]," "[KS #41] or [44]."

Pied harrier (Circus melanoleucos)

Painting of a Harrier with black head and neck, piebald back and wings, and white legs and tail feathers. Perched on a tree with rocks and some foliage in the background. Inscription pencilled at bottom centre of painting reads, "Pied Harrier male symbol (Circus melanocephalus)" and "Circus melanoleucus (53), and in bottom right, "Circus melanoleucus, Pied Harrier [K.S. 46]" with a male symbol.

Painting of a light brown female raptor with lighter orange-tinted chest and legs perched on branch over water with rocks and few leaves in a partial background. Inscription firmly pencilled in lower right corner "Circus pygargus Female symbol Montagus Harrier [K.S.#36] Circus cineraeus."

Pale blue male harrier with white and cream underbelly and darker wing feathers. Perched on a beach surrounded by multiple types of vegetation in limited background. Inscription firmly pencilled in upper right corner "Circus pygargus Male symbol Montagus Harrier [K.S.#36]." Another in bottom left reads, "Montagu's Harrier male symbol (Circus cineraceus)."

Shaheen falcon (Falco peregrinus peregrinator)

Painting of a smaller juvenile raptor with white face and dark brown cap, orange and brown speckled belly, and dark brown back and wings. Perched on a rock in a limited landscape with some foliage. Inscription in bottom centre reads, "Indian Hobby imm (Falco severus)," below that: "Hypotriorchis severus (14)." Firmly pencilled in lower right corner, "Falco severus indicus (immature) Central Indian Hobby (? Female symbol) [K.S.#292B]."

Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus)

Painting of a small, light-coloured kestrel, possibly juvenile, with darker tan wings and tail with black edges and flecks. Perched on branch in front of rock background with some foliage. Pencilled note in lower right corner "(Migrant from Siberia?) Female symbol Cerchtrenius tinnunculus? Siberian Kestrel (K.S. 313)."
