The file consists of the Final Report of the Curriculum Revision Committee 1959; revised time tables for the new curriculum and for transitional year, 1959-1960 (confidential do not release to press); and a 1957 report of the curriculum Committee.

The file contains the diary of Wilder Penfield for June 30 1957 to July 31st 1957. The front cover is inscribed “1957 Neuropathology Lab McGill University”. The diary details Wilder Penfield’s travels in England and Ireland, mentioning attending conferences, visiting Trinity College, Dublin, and attending social engagements like plays.

The file contains the diary of Wilder Penfield for January 1957 to April 1958. The inside cover is inscribed with “To Daddy, Happy birthday Jan 26th 1957. This is to keep a diary of your trip to India with love, Wilder + Berry”. The diary details Wilder Penfield’s travels to India and surrounding areas such as Thailand. This includes reflections on the event of his birthday, and comments on the local culture, including drawings. To note is that the printed dates of the diary are not used and there are some loose pages.

This file contains Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research correspondence. It includes a notice of inspection of the Faculty of Medicine by a representative of the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association and the Associations of American and Canadian Medical Colleges; a resolution concerning the late Dr. Colin K. Russel; committee minutes, notes and correspondence; recommendations for clinical staff appointments; and a memorandum about members of the department who had left Canada for the U.S.A. between the years of 1959 and 1964.

The file contains the Sub-Committee Reports of the McGill Teaching Curriculum Committee including the teaching of specialities; two reports of the basic sciences committee; two interim reports of the sub-committee on student assessment and counselling; the final report of the sub-committee on joint and integrated teaching; the minutes of the meeting of the clinical sub-committee; two reports of the sub-committee on medicine as a social science; a summary of recommendations reached by the clinical sub-committee; discussions of the pre-clinical committee; a resolution ‘Medicine in relation to society’; and a report draft for the curriculum committee, 1956.

Included are lists of fellowships, studentships, scholarships, etc. (1955-1956); a list of candidates for Masters and Doctorates for the Neurology and Neurosurgery department (1956); student theses titles and grades; list of fellows registered for degrees; correspondence between the faculty and Rasmuseen on which members of the department who are actively engaged in research and training of graduate students; course enrollment forms for select students in the department; Graduate Faculty Policy Committee meeting minutes; Memorandum of a meeting on American support of medical research (1964); a report containing data concerning U.S. Government grants to the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI); discussions on changes in American Federal Funds; a letter and preparatory notes on American support of medical research at McGill; S.B. Frost, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research’s survey questions about Post-Doc’s; and recommendations for new posts on the Graduate Faculty.
