University Notebooks and Essays

Series consists of materials related to Dewdney’s undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, including essays, notebooks and lab books. Also includes one copy of University of Toronto’s May 1932 Cap and Gown magazine, scripts from plays, sonnets and doodles, as well as the minutes of a student group called “The Three Musketeers”. Essays are in no discernable order, notebooks ordered by subject/course.

Administrative Files

Series documents the activities that were taken during the hosting of the UCM’s annual convention. Administrative files contain records spanning many years. The series includes a scrapbook, the attendance log for the annual conventions, an account book, and a folder holding UCM journals, interim report, convention programs, memos, publicity, petition to the House of Commons, bulletins, memorials and newspaper clippings. The series is arranged chronologically.

Miscellaneous Materials.

Miscellaneous materials include citations, visitors' books, calling cards and printed matter. Papers given to James by W.H. Birks comprise 2 cm of letters documenting his involvement in McGill affairs, eg. (Graduates' Society, Y.M.C.A.) from 1900 to 1938, and include letters from William Peterson and Stephen Leacock. Chancellor Sir Edward Beatty also gave private files to James concerning the Medical Faculty and government aid to hospitals.
