Ballots

Subseries contains records relating to the nomination of new members through ballots sent to all members. Includes 17 files with tally sheets, ballots, correspondence, curriculum vitae and membership proposal forms. Pre-1980, ballots files contain also membership proposal information.

Honorary and Emeritus Memberships

Subseries contains documents pertaining to the selection of the honorary and emeritus members. Contains one file of correspondence between officers on the subject and eight candidates’ files. Includes membership proposal files arranged in alphabetical order. Contains membership proposal forms, correspondence, curriculum vitae, bibliographies, reprints and a list.

Budget

Subseries contains mostly statements of receipts and disbursements presented by the Secretary-Treasurer at the annual meeting, working sheets, ledgers sheets and slides.

Correspondence/Domestic

Sub-series includes all of Dr. Penfield's "correspondence-domestic", or personal correspondence, which was taken mostly from his office at the Montreal Neurological Institute. There are also files that were taken from his home rather than his office (these were previously indicated by the prefix "D" in the file number). This sub-series includes material which Dr. Penfield had collected before arriving at McGill in 1928. In particular, it includes correspondence between Dr. Penfield and his wife, Helen Kermott Penfield.

Working Files

Subseries consists of files containing additional material used by Dr. Penfield in the production of some of his published articles.

Oxford period

Subseries consists of chiefly of Osler's correspondence collected by Cushing beginning in 1905 with Osler's appointment at Oxford University until his death in 1919. Correspondence includes both original letters and transcriptions of letters. In addition to correspondence are some accompanying notes (both by Cushing and by Osler), clippings, articles, and other ephemera related to Osler.

Philadelphia and Baltimore years

Subseries consists of chiefly of Osler's correspondence collected by Cushing relating to the period between 1886 to 1904, during which time Osler was in Philadelphia and then Baltimore. Correspondence includes both original letters and transcriptions of letters. In addition to correspondence are some accompanying notes (both by Cushing and by Osler), clippings, articles, and other ephemera related to Osler.

Childhood and early career

Subseries consists of chiefly of correspondence but also includes some accompanying notes, clippings, articles, and other ephemera related to Osler's childhood and early career period in Montreal.
