Autograph manuscript of: Novels, plays and poems : written for the instruction of people of all ages by Sophia Elizabeth Burney, aged 13 years old.

Manuscript is written in cursive hand in brown ink on laid paper (horizontal chainlines with watermark visible in the fold). At the bottom of the title page is a dedication: "Humbly dedicated without permission to Mrs. d'Arblay" (the author's aunt, Fanny Burney d'Arblay). Page [24] contains a verse Address to the Readers. The manuscript is bound in its original contemporary brown paper wrappers (detached), with the manuscript title "Volume 1st" on the cover.

Manuscript contains a number of compositions, including, "The History of Blind Jack, A pathetic tale", "The Unlawful Marriage, A Tale", "Murder Prevented, A Comedy". "Murder Committed, A Tragedy", "The Adventures of a Boy", and "Pennsylvania, the Orphan of the Hovel. A Novel."

Bill of sale for a 25-year-old enslaved Black man named Cesar. He was sold to James Morrison by traffickers Jacob Thomas and John Fulton of Duchess County, New York. Witnessed by Asher Granger and H.C. McCord.

Letter from John Antill, likely to James Morrison, with an update about a sale he is waiting to make until prices increase, and political news from Colonel Winslow from Halifax about conflict with the Spanish.

Letter from Chas. Leond LePallieur Junior to James Morrison ("Mon chère frère"), sending his regards to his family and sharing news of his plans to make money and send it to Morrison for safekeeping.

Invoice for the purchase of fish hooks bought from Geo. Gimber (late of Cheshire & Co) by Messrs David Strachan & Co. Invoice includes a small illustration of a man fishing.

Autograph letter from Charles Burney Jr. written at Greenwich, 1 December 1800, to William Davies, Bookseller, Strand. Also postmarked 1 December 1800. Consists of one folded sheet with one page of letter, one page address and one page of postscript (one page blank). Written on black-edged laid paper. The letter requests a receipt for Fanny Burney's account ("The Bill against Mrs. D'Arblay"). In a postscript, Burney requests that Davies send him 100 copies of Gay's Fables.

Manuscript letter signed by Charles Burney Jr. to Longman, Pater Noster Row, requesting Longman's catalogue parts I and II. Letter is dated 24 February 1814 with Burney's address given as: Rectory House, Deptford. Folded with address of recipient and traces of blue wax seal (seal wanting).

Consists of an address panel, likely a fragment of a letter. The four corners are clipped. Addressed to Keane Fitzgerald Esq., Mitre Court Buildings, Inner Temple. The fragment contains a later biographical note: "from Dr. Burney who wrote 'History of Music.' Father of Madame D'Arblay author of Cecilia.'
