Most of the Livinson papers consist of lecture notes taken between 1905 and 1914 for undergraduate courses in philosophy, literature and history, and for courses in the Law Faculty. Two scrapbooks of clippings and photographs reflect Livinson's interest in Wilfred Laurier, approximately 1916-1949, and Abraham Lincoln, 1923-1937; there are also two 'notebooks' of clippings on books on the art of writing, memorable quotations, and speeches, 1936. Livinson's journals, sometimes kept under his own name and sometimes under the pseudonyms 'André Penuel' or 'André Charles' consist primarily of philosophical reflections and aphorisms, 1936-1942, 1947-1948, 1952. A short essay on Barbados, 1936, is accompanied by photographs, and there are also a number of photographs of Montréal scenes. Livinson's autograph collection consists of letters from prominent men, largely Montrealers, in business and government.
Livinson, Abraham Jacob, 1888 or 1889-1966Collection consists of correspondence, 1912-1947, from Wilfrid Laurier, Emile Berliner, Ralph David Blumenfeld, John Boynton Priestley, John Huston Finley, Malcolm MacDonald, and others. Some letters include newspaper clippings regarding the author or a brief description of the author's background, written by Livinson.
Livinson, Abraham Jacob, 1888 or 1889-1966Fonds consists of correspondence, research and genealogical notes, articles produced by Evelyn Miller's activities as a researcher, historian, writer and archivist. There is also a considerable amount of primary source material collected by Evelyn Miller on her family; particularly correspondence, sermons and articles relating predominately to Abraham de Sola but also to David Aaron de Sola (Abraham's father), Aaron David Meldola de Sola, Clarence Isaac de Sola and the Hart family. The fonds have a vast amount of photographs mostly of the de Sola Family, but also the David, Hart and Joseph families. The fonds is composed of the following series:
Although there are two separate series, it must be noted that some information contained in the series files are often relevant to more than that area of activity. This is especially true of correspondence files.
Sola, Abraham de, 1825-1882Collection consists of correspondence from J.W.A. Hickson between 1912 and 1956.
Roback, A. A. (Abraham Aaron), 1890-1965The collection contains materials related to a bicycle relay ride between Sarnia, Ontario, and Montreal, Quebec, held June 15-16, 1894 by the Canadian Wheelmen's Association (CWA) under its president, A. T. Lane, an early importer of bicycles to Canada who is credited by many contemporary sources as the first person to ride a high wheel bicycle in North America. The relay ride was organised as a promotional event for the CWA's annual meet, hosted in Montreal that year. The collection contains a newspaper article from the Toronto Mail (June 16, 1894) detailing the route and listing the participants, as well as a leather travel satchel used to carry a congratulatory letter to the president of the Canadian Wheelman's Association to be signed by the mayors of the cities and towns along the route. The satchel is embossed with the text: "Sarnia to Montreal relay ride, 1894." The collection also contains a published programme from the CWA annual meet, entitled, "Our city and our sports : souvenir and official programme of the 12th annual meet of the Canadian Wheelmen's Association, Montreal, July 1894."
