Series consists of John Bell's textbook for McGill course Medical Jurisprudence, taught by Professor Duncan C. McCallum, M.D., in fall, 1864. Textbook is listed on the “Books Recommended to Students” list in the course calendar. Signature on inside cover: "John Bell October, 1864."

Series contains documentation of Bell's professional work as a physician in Montreal, including the publication, "Mortality in Montreal," a statement of deaths in the city during the month of January, 1878, as well as his student notebooks and MD thesis.

Series contains personal and professional correspondence dating between approximately 1865-1877.

Series consists of three scrapbooks. The scrapbooks contain notes, patient prescription information, reprints of various publications by MacDonnell, and lots of news clippings concerning various topics such as the history of Montreal, McGill University, the McGill faculty, Montreal General Hospital, and obituary notices

Series consists of items originally attached to scrapbook page, including a number of newspaper clippings related to the Boer War and the election campaign of 1906 between Laurier and Borden.

Drug formulae books

Series consists of 5 drug formularies estimated to contain approximately 1200-1300 formulas. Notebooks also contain financial data (half-yearly summaries) for approximately 12 years dated between 1896 and 1914, of great significance for quantifying the size of the business and its inventory value (see also File no. 19 for additional financial data).
