        General note

These illustrations were found in files apparently begun about 1950 when a 2nd edition of W/B 2 was contemplated (see correspondence W/B 2-1, 1951). The files of "Illustrations" rapidly became a catch-all for duplicates, and illustrations re-used but never returned to their original manuscript file. The titles on the folders proved to be misleading, or incorrect, so that the inventory list made in 1979 is equally in error. The files labeled "2nd Ed. Epilepsy Book" are as labeled, and with them were other files, often with original drawings, that were the source of new illustrations in W/B 6. Other illustrations from various papers, identified or designated by Case, seem to have been considered for W/B but not used. Where identified, files of illustrations not used for W/B 5 or W/B 6 are grouped together as W/PV (since most are duplicates).
