Item
1 medal ; 3.8 x 3.8 x 0.4 cm
Elkington & Co. was a successful silver manufacturer, one of the prime producers of silver plating from Birmingham, England. It operated under the name G. R. Elkington & Co. until 1842, when a third partner, Josiah Mason, joined the firm. It became Elkington, Mason, & Co. until 1861 when the partnership with Mason was terminated. From 1861 to 1863, the firm operated independently as Elkington & Co. In 1863, British Silverware, Ltd. took over. It became a subsidiary of Delta Metal Co. Ltd. in 1971.
This item is a medal depicting two figures, a naked man and a clothed man blowing into a horn, on one side, and a variant of the McGill coat of arms on the other, a shield with three martlets, topped with a crown, with a partial wreath of maple leaves, and the words: "McGill University, Montreal."
