The contract outlines conditions of employment (as an "éngagé," or journeyman) in Hawkesbury, Upper Canada, for the duration of 6 months (15 November to 1 May) and payment of 54 livres per month. The contract notes that the voyageur will loses wages in the case of absence for sickness or other.
