Biographical history

George Duncan Gibb was born in Montreal in 1821 and graduated in medicine from McGill University in 1846. He practiced in London, England, and was the author of many books and articles on diseases of the throat. In 1850, Gibb was Librarian and Curator of the Natural History Society of Montreal.

Custodial history

Transferred from McGill University Medical Library to Osler Library on 18 February 1972. Old accession number 429.

Scope and content

Fonds contains G.D. Gibb's manuscript medical case books. The fonds includes six volumes originally numbered 3, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, each of them with an index and Gibb's bookplate.
