General note

The project was unbuilt in this form, and McGill College Avenue widening and boulevard later carried out by the City of Montreal. This project was also called Proposed Development of Promenade McGill College."McGill College Avenue presents a unique opportunity for the creation of a pedestrian mall, which would connect the already existing major pedestrian spaces in an appropriate manner...The large open square of Place du Centre is seen as the focal area of the proposal, and the location of a great variety of pedestrian-oriented activities.Source: Panels from the office of John Schreiber, December 1973.This series of drawings was intended by the client to serve as a catalyst, encouraging the City to proceed with its long-planned proposal to widen McGill College Avenue and to create a prestigious new boulevard opening to the mountain. The project was unbuilt in this form, but completed in the mid 1980's by the City of Montreal.
