Proposal of Alterations to All Saints Cathedral
File
2 drawings : pencil on paper
File consists of development drawings (floor plans, exterior perspective) for stone church (proposed alterations: west end of church).
All Saints Cathedral was constructed from drawings prepared in the offices of Bertram Goodhue, New York, in 1909 and took several years to build. It was not completed as specified for reasons of economy. The First Great War Explosion in 1916, and the 1945 explosion had affected the cathedral and Nobbs was commissioned to prepare a report in June 1929. Report on the Fabric of the Cathedral of All Saints Halifax, N.S., a lengthy and illustrated document by Nobbs and consulting engineer, Leslie R. Thomson, included four sections: investigation made, condition of the building, recommendations and a summary. Three projects followed the report in the form of alterations (1929), repairs (1946) and additions (1955). The last was not carried out due to lack of funding from the congregation at All Saints Cathedral.
