Biographical history

Vincent Pasciuto Ponte was born on October 27, 1919, in Boston, Massachusetts.

He was one of the world's leading urban planners who first envisioned the concept for Montreal's underground city - the 30-kilometer subterranean RESO network that today links most of the city's downtown skyscrapers. In 1949, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Harvard and worked for the internationally renowned architect’s firm I.M. Pei in New York. In 1964, he moved to Montreal, Quebec. He drafted the master plans for both Place Ville Marie and Place Bonaventure, Montreal, and designed the underground malls in Montreal and Dallas. He also drew up plans for the area in Paris today known as La Defense.

He died on February 9, 2006, in Jensen Beach, Martin, Florida.
