La Ronde 3 - The Gyrotron
Item
1 slide photograph.
Aerial photograph of La Ronde Rides Centre and its feature attraction "The Gyrotron" (lots D-524, D-527, D-528, D-529, D-533, D-535, D-546). With a capacity of 3,000 people per hour, the gyrotron was the largest structure on La Ronde. It consisted of the "Space" ride (near the Marina's edge) and the "Volcano". The two rides were connected in the air by bridge. Appears like two pyramidal elements enclosed inside a spaceframe and constructed chiefly of aluminum tubes and galvanized iron plates (aluminum clad, honeycombed paper with wood edges used for exterior cladding), height 215' 4".
Pavilions depicted: Fort Edmonton-Pioneerland, The Mall, Children's World, Youth Pavilion, The Rides Centre, Gyrotron, Laterna Magika.
