Drafts of No Man Alone

This sub-series consists of a typescript draft of Penfield’s final work, his autobiography No Man Alone, which includes his corrections in the margins. The autobiography was published posthumously in 1977 as No Man Alone: A Neurosurgeon’s Life, by Little and Brown in Boston.

Presidential Address

Subseries consists of some of the presidential address texts given at the annual meeting of the American Osler Society. Includes a draft, a newspaper clipping, working notes, bibliographies and an text of introduction of the presidential address.

Correspondence with Members

Subseries contains correspondence sent by the Secretary-Treasurer to the members about the activities of the association. Includes circular letters, membership lists, membership proposals, minutes and reprints.

Funding

Documents concerning the external funding of Pappius’s professional activities: research grants and fellowship applications. Most of the contents concern equipment and operational grants from the Medical Research Council.

Ballots

Subseries contains records relating to the nomination of new members through ballots sent to all members. Includes 17 files with tally sheets, ballots, correspondence, curriculum vitae and membership proposal forms. Pre-1980, ballots files contain also membership proposal information.

Program

Subseries contains the programs of the annual meeting of the American Osler Society. Includes 7 files with programs, roster of attendance and evaluation forms. Some documents are annotated or have been signed by participants.

Photographs

Subseries consists of photographs taken at annual meetings of the American Osler Society. It also includes some group photos of the members.

Medicare

The sub-series consists on the billing done through the Régie de l'assurance-maladie du Québec by Dr. Vineberg. It shows also the disagreement between Vineberg and the professionals association regarding the billing of operations done by Vineberg. Also, problems of billings and reimbursement from Vineberg to the Régie. Correspondence of Dr. Augustin Roy, Corporation professionnelle des médecins du Québec, Dr. Claude Mercier, Association de chirurgie cardiovasculaire et thoracique du Québec and Dr. Raymond Robillard, Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec.

Includes correspondence, statements, registered letter, accounting sheets and forms.
