Clippings

The Clippings series contains newspaper clippings of publicity, articles and reviews concerning performances, broadcasts and recordings of the Renaissance Singers of Montreal.

Émigré musician files.

This series consists of the biographical information on each émigré collected by Dr. Helmer. The series contains approximately 1030 items. Each file folder may hold:

  • Paul Helmer’s bio-bibliography of the individual(s), as in Appendix A of Growing with Canada.
  • Transcripts and/or summaries of interviews conducted by Paul Helmer, Rachel Anderson, and Katharine Neufeld.
  • Documentary evidence pertaining to the individual(s): primary and secondary sources, both original and copied material.
  • Paul Helmer’s notes and drafts for Growing with Canada.
  • Photographs.

2010-2011 concert season

Series consists of programs and recordings for performances and events at the Schulich School of Music during the 2010-2011 concert season including by the McGill University Chorus, McGill Symphony Orchestra, McGill Sinfonietta, McGill Early Music Ensembles, McGill Jazz Orchestras, Opera McGill, and the McGill Baroque Orchestra.

Organ Plans

This series includes large-scale drawings, preliminary sketches, and general plans of various parts of the organ, such as the buffet, console, keyboards, and windchest. This series is divided into three subseries: organs with opus number; organs without opus number, which includes Wolff’s plans for proposed but ultimately not-constructed organs; and finally plans by other organ builders or Wolff’s drawings based on historical treatises and documents.

Negatives

The photographic negatives are divided into three subseries: Wolff organs with opus number, Wolff organs without opus number, and non-Wolff organs.

Correspondence

This series contains Hellmuth Wolff’s correspondence files. Subseries i contains correspondence between Wolff and various organ builders in English, French and German, primarily related to Wolff’s editorial work for the for the International Society of Organbuilders’ ISO Yearbook 1993, which spanned four years from 1992-1996. Subseries ii contains workshop documents, including opus lists.
