Pulp And Paper Pavilion

Exterior view photograph. Canadian Pulp and Paper Pavilion Exterior (lot C-482). The roof line of the Pulp and Paper Pavilion was designed to resemble a forest. The exhibition area spanned 36 of the 50 modules (see "Geometry"), the remaining serving administration and hospitality areas. Found in the exhibition area were displays on the history of paper. Two auditoriums bridged by a stage area showed educational videos about issues such as paper production and the economic benefits of the industry. Visitors were charmed by French artisans conducting live paper making demonstrations. 16' modular grid covered by 50 pyramidal elements of equal base size (16' X16') and different heights (20', 30', 40' or 60') Structural steel with exterior grade plywood. Polymer Pavilion

Exterior view photograph. Polymer Pavilion exterior (lot B-331). Man the Explorer Pavilion in the background. The Polymer Pavilion cleverly acted as a bridge over a natural landscape depression. It consisted of a paritally caged-in exhibition area above and office/workshop areas below. Ramping curvatious design. Gas concrete on reinforcing steel. Place des Nations

Exterior view photograph. Place des Nations flags. Place des Nations (lot B-300) was conceived as a multipurpose gathering space. With a capacity of 7000 spectators, it was utilized for both official ceremonies and entertainment events. The timber walkways linked two reception halls. It's periphery was also lined by two restaurants and VIP spaces. Rectangular plaza. Reinforced concrete and fir glued laminated wooden beams. (S: 360' x 450' --- A: 67300 sq. ft. --- H: 39' 2")

Place D'Accueil

Exterior view photograph. Place d'Acceuil from an aerial vantage. Place d'Acceuil served as the main entry point into Expo '67. The pavilion's formal language was inspired by the triangular shape of the site. Place d'Acceuil housed VIP lounges, restaurants, bars, shops, a post office, a travel agency and more. Boasting three storeys of convenience, Place d'Acceuil aspired to be a highly effecient transporation hub for all types of expo traffic. Triangular plan with 7 pyramidal roof peaks. Passport Sales Booth

Exterior view photograph. Booth at which Expo Passports were sold. The passports allowed visitors to collect a stamp from each pavilion visited.
