The Alice Johannsen fonds reflects her lifelong involvement in nature, museums, community and her fealty towards her father, Herman-Smith (Jackrabbit) Johannsen. It consists of three series; personal and family series, 1994 to 1991, the Redpath series, 1919-1971 and a professional activities series, 1919-1971.

Fonds consists of papers pertaining to Gillett’s publications (with the exception of We Walked Very Warily), her addresses, the editing of the McGill Journal of Education and the functions of the Faculty of Education. Materials related to her publications include notes, drafts, galley and page proofs for A History of Education, Foundation Studies in Education, Educational Technology, The Laurel and the Poppy, and A Fair Shake: Autobiographical Essays by McGill Women (edited by Dr. Gillett and Kay Sibbold). There are also some photocopies, correspondence, and copies of photographs collected for We Walked Very Warily. Her editorship of the McGill Journal of Education is documented by copies of minutes of the Editorial Board (1966-1976), correspondence on funding (1970- 1971) and with contributors (1967-1971), and files of correspondence, manuscripts and proofs for issues from 1971, 1973 and 1974. A file of addresses together with some reviews, largely on the women's movement (1975-1976), her convocation address in 1971, and her Report on Women in the Montréal Area delivered at the National Conference on Women in the University, 1973 are also included. Finally, papers relating to her work at the Faculty of Education include correspondence, public relations and summer school materials (1963-1967), agendas, submissions and reports to the Senate of the faculty's Planning Commission (1972-1973) and files of the McGill Committee for Teaching and Research on Women, 1976.

The fonds documents his activities as a federal judge in Montreal and Ottawa and consists chiefly of judgments, 1972-2007 and bench notebooks, 1972-1999 with some congratulatory correspondence concerning his appointments as well as related certificates, and photographs. These records reflect the extent of his records keeping activities in textual form. Later records were created only as electronic records. These were not acquired.

Arthur William Currie Fonds

Fonds consists of originals, carbon and photocopies stemming from both the wartime and post-war phases of Currie's career. His wartime career is recorded in a copy of his battlefield diary for 2 June 1916- 8 February 1917 and commemorated in an album of signatures of the officers he commanded. Postwar materials comprise correspondence and speeches. The correspondence concerns various causes which Currie patronized and books for which he wrote introductions. His speeches (in 7 volumes, with some loose) are devoted to the war and its aftermath, politics, education, eulogies, speeches of welcome, Christmas and New Year's messages, dedications of war memorials and the like. Some are noted as having been written by Wilfred Bovey.

Herbert H. Jasper Fonds

The fonds documents Herbert H. Jasper’s research activities at the Montreal Neurological Institute and the Centre de Recherches en Sciences Neurologiques at the Université de Montréal, his active travel and participation in international symposia and research organizations, his correspondence with an international network of researchers and colleagues, as well as his publishing and editorial work. A small amount of the materials also relate to his teaching activities at the Université de Montréal, as well as his personal life. Records include correspondence, conference and symposia materials, publications, research notes, photographs, and awards, including medals, plaques, and certificates. The majority of the materials are from the 1960s to the 1980s. Arrangement of the fonds varies by series, and includes subject, chronological, and alphabetical arrangement.

William Howard Pugsley Fonds

Fonds concerns Pugsley’s contacts with McGill economics professors during his senior year and as a recent graduate, and his enthusiasm for McGill sports.

His correspondence comprises a letter from Prof. J.P. Day, 1934, responding to Pugsley's views on the roles of government and the banks in the extension of credit, and two letters from Stephen Leacock, one, 1934, commending a review-article by Pugsley, the second, 1935, declining an invitation to give an address. A number of clippings from the McGill Daily and city newspapers record McGill sports events, ca 1932. Two reels of film provide campus views, interior views of classrooms, and sport events at McGill.
Also includes notes and examinations for Economics classes from his student years.

Katsuji Nakashima Fonds

The collection documents the life of Katsuji Nakashima since his arrival in Canada in 1909. The material consists of a personal handwritten journal written on rice paper in ancient Japanese; a Dominion of Canada certificate of Naturalization issued in 1919; a passport issued by the Imperial Japanese Government (1921); invitations, bills and other ephemeral items (ca. 1910-1945); military photographs; an Internment Camp Ration Book; and other personal documents reflecting the civilian and military activities of Katsuji Nakashima. The collection also contains personal belongings such as Buddhist prayer items.

Andrew G.L. McNaughton Fonds

Fonds consists of papers covering McNaughton’s years as a student and instructor at McGill, his army work during the first years of World War II, and his involvement in Canadian-American relations in the early 1960s. Materials from his McGill years include student lecture notes on electrical measurements (1907) and mechanics (1908-1909), a copy of his M.Sc. thesis on the dielectric strength of air (1912), and two talks given to the McGill Electrical Club on high voltage (1912) and on air as an insulator (1913). Six files of notes, drafts, charts and some correspondence document McNaughton's publications and inventions in the field of electrical insulation and transformers between 1912 and 1914.

Apart from C.O.T.C. lectures in artillery (1913), most of McNaughton's military papers date from 1939 to 1943. They consist entirely of typescript, printed reports and manuals by McNaughton on artillery and ballistics. Canadian-American relations are the subject of McNaughton's address to the Royal Canadian Institute on the St. Lawrence Seaway (1961). Also found in the fonds is a reprint of his article in the International Journal (1962-1963) on the proposed Columbia River Treaty.
