Bull Dog Pub

Exterior view photograph. The Bulldog Pub exterior in Carrefour International (lot D-551). The 175 capacity bar featured a taste of Great Britain on Ile Ronde. The "spot of Old England" served British ales, wines and spirits. Light meals were also available.

Carrefour International

Exterior view photograph. Aerial photograph of Carrefour International. Carrefour International was a one or two storey (mixture) complex of international restaurants and shops sprinkled with courtyards and plazas. It featured an antique Beldium merry-go-round that broadcasted lively carnival music. Multiple building clusters on a triangular grid. Heavy timber and cement painted asbestos with plywood and pvc roofing. Cedar shingles on two restaurants. (S: 540' x 260' (irregular). --- A: 47,000 sq. ft. --- H: 17' 6" to 24' 6")

Children's World, "Old 99" Miniature Train

Exterior view photograph. Children riding the miniature train inside Children's World (lot D-528). Conceived as an amusement park for children, Children's World featured five rides, a puppet theatre, a restaurant and a toy shop. Among the major rides were a minature train called Old 99, a water raft ride and a minature roller coaster on Pumpkin Hill. Structural steel for restaurant and theatre, reinforced concrete for remaining buildings. Sheet glass and asbestos panels, canvas on steel frame and exposed concrete. Dancing Waters Sketch

Exterior view photograph. Artist's drawing of the Dancing Waters show on Dolphin Lake (lot D-523, D-530). The show boasted spectactualr color and over 1000 different fountain effects set to music. 2,700,000 gallons of water shot through 2,000 fountain nozzles sometimes reaching height of 100 feet. The evening installation of the show featured a synchronization with a fireworks display.

La Ronde 3 - The Gyrotron

Aerial photograph of La Ronde Rides Centre and its feature attraction "The Gyrotron" (lots D-524, D-527, D-528, D-529, D-533, D-535, D-546). With a capacity of 3,000 people per hour, the gyrotron was the largest structure on La Ronde. It consisted of the "Space" ride (near the Marina's edge) and the "Volcano". The two rides were connected in the air by bridge. Appears like two pyramidal elements enclosed inside a spaceframe and constructed chiefly of aluminum tubes and galvanized iron plates (aluminum clad, honeycombed paper with wood edges used for exterior cladding), height 215' 4".

Marina

Exterior view photograph. "Port Sainte-Helene" Marina (lot D-553) almost at capacity. The marina is situated on the north east end of La Ronde. Equipped to dock 300 yachts, upwards of 250 of it's moorings housed visiting crafts. Crescent shaped.
