Publications

The publications in this series comprise the final drafts of Scriver papers accepted for publication in print journals, including research, editorials and reviews of other scholarly efforts, co-authored papers, and revisions to the textbook The Metabolic & Molecular Bases of Inherited Disease. Also included here are 3.5 boxes of Scriver’s own monographs, including editions (I-VI, with gaps) of the aforementioned textbook and a number of related publications. The periodicals in this series were kept in loose chronological order by Scriver himself and range from 1960-2009 (with gaps). These publications draw chiefly from Canadian and international journals, and focus on Scriver’s research in the field of genetics, metabolic deficiencies, and pediatric disease in a Canadian context. All publications are originals except where noted.

Executive Binders

These are compilation binders created for each Muse Entertainment production and service production. They served as a core reference for Michael Prupas, President and CEO. They contain the milestone documents related to the executive, legal and production aspects, as well as a script.

Manuscripts

Series consists primarily of manuscripts in various stages of editing and publication, published by the Muses' Company. Also included are editors’ and authors’ notes, publicity materials, author correspondence, pamphlets, and photographs.

Organ Plans

This series includes large-scale drawings, preliminary sketches, and general plans of various parts of the organ, such as the buffet, console, keyboards, and windchest. This series is divided into three subseries: organs with opus number; organs without opus number, which includes Wolff’s plans for proposed but ultimately not-constructed organs; and finally plans by other organ builders or Wolff’s drawings based on historical treatises and documents.

Correspondence

The Correspondence Series contains letters to or by Julius Schloss to the listed individual, except where noted. Additional correspondence pertaining to other series in the collection is listed below as well.

General Correspondence

The series contains Leon Edel's correspondence, with the majority before 1989. The correspondence ranges from personal to professional and literary, with letters from friends, acquaintances, scholars, authors, and publishers, such as Harvard University Press. Files that are significant either because of the correspondent or due to the extent of the correspondence include W. W. Norton, Anais Nin, Hannah Arendt, E. M. Forster, H. Montgomery Hyde, Geoffrey Keynes, and Allen Ginsberg. Many of the letters represent Edel's ongoing work to acquire copies of Henry James's correspondence and seek out information about the author from his contemporaries. Also includes a number of letters related to various lectures given during the 1960s and 1970s.

Compositions

The Compositions series contains compositional documentation, 48 original compositions, 14 arrangements, and numerous untitled sketches. The compositions are organized alphabetically by uniform title, with a separate subsection entitled the “Bach Gamba Project”. Composition dates, durations and instrumentations are provided when possible.

Edited interview transcripts.

This series consists of a 248-page spiral-bound volume, with a 4-page Introduction. The volume presents edited transcripts of interviews held with 33 persons by Dr. Helmer and his graduate students Rachel Anderson and Katharine Neufeld. The initial transcripts were reviewed by each interviewee and the edited versions presented in this document were approved by them.

Scrapbook

The Scrapbook series contains one scrapbook of photographs and newspaper clippings related to his career as the singer of “O Canada” during professional sports games.
