Brahminy, or black-headed, or pagoda myna or starling (Sturnia pagodarum)

Painting in mat frame of a bird with black head, light orange chest and belly, light grey back and wings, wings and tail tipped with black. Perched on branch over water and rocks, some close foliage around the bird. Inscription at bottom centre reads, "Black-headed or Brahminy myna (Temenchus pagodarum)."

Blue-faced Malkoha (Phaenicophaeus viridirostris)

Painting of a dark bird with bright teal beak, white and grey bib, yellow belly, dark/teal-tinted wings, back, and tail (with white tips). No background other than some grey shading at feet. Inscription at bottom centre reads, "Small green-billed malkoha (Rhopodytes viridirostris)." A few very lightly pencilled notes in lower left hand corner.

The bird is perched amidst a finely, fully articulated and painted section of a plant with long leaves and bundles of small light flowers. Background unique in Gwillim Collection. Inscription at bottom centre reads, "Common iora [female symbol] (Aegithina tiphia)."
