He is tempted by the larger medical centre and the prospects of consulting work in Philadelphia. He is grieved at the thought of leaving McGill and Howard, but they will get on without him, as "any one man is never essential." He reports that Marian Francis and her children are well. He has asked Prof. And Mrs. Morse to look after Schäfer while he is in Montreal.
