Privy Council, on the Behring Sea and fur-seal fisheries, 1893 (26 pages); Reports on the Arbitrations and regulations of the fur seal fishery, by C. H. Tupper; Notice relating to Permits and Passes on fur-seal fishery; Confidential Report of the "British Agent to the Russian Seal Islands under the provisional agreement entered between her Majesty's government and that of Russia for the protection of Seal fisheries," Dr. Dawson, 1893 (108 pages with appendices).
Exterior view photograph. Belgium Pavilion (lot B-311). Although the Belgium Pavilion was in fact a temporary structure, the material combined with its meticulous design gave the pavilion an air of permanence. The parallelogram grid pattern was carried carefully throughout the building in elements such as floor slabs, exhibition cases and even planter boxes. The two storey building was dedicated almost entirely to exhibition space and was fronted by a large entrance foyer. Here, busts of royalty looked down on a collection of books and periodicals. The first floor exhibition spaces featured a Hall of Honors section which displayed ancient royal and religious treasures. A large staircase took visitors to the upper level where the Hall of Fame celebrated 55 famous Belgians from a multitude of disciplines. Modular parallelogram grid plan. Reinforced concrete, structural steel superstructure, concrete filled steel deck floor. Belgian hand made brick with brown solar glass window panels. Interior view photograph. Shrine of Saint Remacle (a.k.a. Remaclus) inside the Belgium Pavilion "Hall of Honour". The Shrine is considered a masterpeice of goldsmith art and was constructed for the 8th century saint who founded the monastery at Stavelot. A unique example of Mosan metal work, the 2.7m/9ft long and almost 1m/3.5ft high shrine was worked from gilded metal. It is inlayed with enamel. In 1268 the preserved remains of Saint Remacle were placed into the shrine. Its front depicts Jesus, Mary and the Child. The left side depict Jesus and St Remacle encircled by six Apostles. The right side depicts St Lambertus surrounded by the other six Apostles.
