Fonds contains John Symonds' student notebook volume 3 of Dr. John Rutherford's clinical lectures for the year 1753 at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. It was transcribed by Symonds in 1762.

Stansfield's student notebooks comprise three volumes of the geology lectures of Dr. Marr (1904). Research notes include laboratory records and a draft article on dolomite, and scattered notes on palaeontology and stratigraphy. Dawson to Hall, Dean Alexander Johnson and Hon. W.W. Lynch, M.P., and to Lynch from Joseph Duhamel and George Lampson, all concerning this topic (1887, 1889).
