This series consists of correspondence, notes, reports, and report drafts which were created and collected by Dr. Penfield as part of his travels to, and work in, Britain, the Middle East, and the Soviet Union for the National Research Council of Canada during the Second World War. (TR = Travels)
Series consists of reports and notes collected and produced by Dr. Penfield as part of his work on committees of the National Research Council of Canada during the Second World War. The documents found in the series include American, British, and Canadian reports on different kinds of medical tests, as well as committee meeting minutes. (WP-CTEE = Wilder Penfield - Committees)
Series A contains correspondence concerning a wide variety of medical topics. The majority of this correspondence concerns Dr. Cone and his association with the Presbyterian Hospital, McGill University, the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Montreal Neurological Institute. Correspondence relating to the development of improved neurological instruments is also included in this series. Also includes obituaries of Dr. Cone.
Series B contains correspondence, research material and biographical information. It also includes teaching notes, lecture notes, typescripts on annual reports of both the Montreal Neurological Institute and the Royal Victoria Hospital, and statistical data of the Montreal Neurological Institute.
Series B is comprised of 62 files (files no. 107 to 169). The files are alphabetically arranged. The records in each file are arranged in reverse chronological order.
Series D consists of photographs, postcards, slides, x-rays, and other visual material and artifacts such as copper printing plates. The visual material is located within other series, particularly the Correspondence Series A, but described individually here.
Series E consists of 33 folders containing patient files arranged chronologically with alphabetical sub-arrangement. It includes admission, discharge summaries, and Dr. Cone’s holograph notes.
Series A contains Dr. Elliott’s research notebooks from his association with Selwyn College, Cambridge, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Montreal Neurological Institute. Some of this research was collaborative. Most of the series comprises research relating to the study of brain trauma as a result of head injury or neurosurgery. This series is divided into three (3) sub-series: A/1) Research (experiment) notebooks, 1927-1933 A/2) Research (experiment) notebooks, 1933-1949 A/3) Research (experiment) notebooks, 1944-1957
Series B contains EKG and EEG studies for Dr. Herbert Jasper pertaining to gamma-amino-butyric acid. This series is comprised of 3 files (nos. 48 to 50), which are arranged chronologically.
