Letter to Adam H. Wright, June 10, 1912

Letter to Adam H. Wright from William Osler, From the Regius Professor of Medicine, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. They had suggested Watson for a job. He has not anyone in mind at present. Comments on the job (probably the professorship of obstetrics in Toronto). Asks if there is not any Canadian fellow trained by Edgar or Williams who might go for a time as associate. Suggests to take an outside man if there is no Canadian. Haultain is coming next week in Oxford to examine. Will asks him quietly, without mentioning names or places. Hopes to see him in September. Civilities.

Yes, his edition of the "De Trinitatis" (Servetus) has the single hyphen and the mis-spelt word. Will slip his letter in his copy. Wished to secure a 1478 Celsus for the Library of the Royal Society of Medicine, but Quaritch told him he has a very high bid for it. Civilities. Mentions that he had been going over the Bodley incunabula, which is an extraordinary collection.

Letter to Henry Mills Thomas, June 3, 1912

Letter to Henry Mills Thomas from William Osler, From the Regius Professor of Medicine, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. Delightful trip in Italy. Mention of Revere's interest for photography and sketching. His chief occupation at school appear to be cricket and fishing. They are having a busy summer term. Thanks for looking over the aphasia section. Hopes that he will receive a copy of the new edition before the first of August. Glad that Hal and Trudeau are doing well. Hal should make a very good medical student. Glad that Thayer decided not to go to Harvard, where there would have been many difficulties. Mall would be foolish to go. Remsen wrote him and it seems that he has not been happy in the presidency. It is unwise to take a new job when a man is above 50. Will go to Scotland for August. Will sail for Canada in the middle of September, for the lecture at Yale.
