McGill University

Papers primarily relating to the administrative and governing bodies of McGill University, particularly the Senate.

Publications

The publications in this series comprise the final drafts of Scriver papers accepted for publication in print journals, including research, editorials and reviews of other scholarly efforts, co-authored papers, and revisions to the textbook The Metabolic & Molecular Bases of Inherited Disease. Also included here are 3.5 boxes of Scriver’s own monographs, including editions (I-VI, with gaps) of the aforementioned textbook and a number of related publications. The periodicals in this series were kept in loose chronological order by Scriver himself and range from 1960-2009 (with gaps). These publications draw chiefly from Canadian and international journals, and focus on Scriver’s research in the field of genetics, metabolic deficiencies, and pediatric disease in a Canadian context. All publications are originals except where noted.

Executive Binders

These are compilation binders created for each Muse Entertainment production and service production. They served as a core reference for Michael Prupas, President and CEO. They contain the milestone documents related to the executive, legal and production aspects, as well as a script.

Historical records

The historical records are contained predominantly in a series of scrapbooks: one containing news clippings between 1914-1915, another containing a poster, circulated letters, leaflets, and newspaper clippings covering 1916-1917, and the last containing newspaper clippings of local and national scope covering 1941 (33 cm total). There are also loose clippings from The Standard: Illustrated Section (1916), The Montrealer (1951), Montreal Herald (1950), Montreal Gazette (1950), and Montreal Star (1950) (total 0.03 cm). Other than newspaper records, the historical value of this series is reflected by a Holy Bible (with accompanying note on explaining the significance of the religious text to the 148th battalion, 1914, 3.5 cm), periodicals (1915,1 cm), bound “historical records” (10 cm), speeches (1920, 0.1 cm), stationery (n.d., 4 cm), photographic images (n.d.) belonging to the C.O.T.C. and a souvenir book (1918, 0.2 cm) published for the families of officers of the 148th Battalion – and the men themselves – as a memento of the days they spent training in Montreal.

Correspondence

This series consists of correspondence on the following subjects: sports associations; ski clubs; various ski activities and marathons; ski museums; awards; works about jackrabbit, media events; outdoor activities; travels; and non skiing activities.

Correspondence

This series contains personal correspondence, mostly addressed to J.W. McConnell, with some letters written by him. The letters date between 1898 and 1970.

Correspondence is organized by ‘bundle’ according to specific recipient/author of the letters or by theme (e.g. Condolence letters) and period of time. Correspondence from specific people include letters writen between J.W. McConnell and his wife Lily, letters from their children (Wilson, John, Kathleen, and David), as well as many friends, particularly members of the British aristocracy and military officers and servicemen. Subject-based bundles include condolence messeges, correspondence about a fire at the McConnell home in Val David, congratulatory messages about anniversaries and career advancements, and material related to society events and charitable work.

Illustrations and illustrated reprints

This series contains the creator's illustrations, and some prints and reprints of articles using her material. Some of them are numbered in corresponding file books. The series also contains non-medical illustrations, such as a stained glass window design for the Royal Victoria Hospital, a menu, and charcoal sketches.
