Andreassen's papers fall into three series: personal materials, diaries, and professional files. Personal materials include family correspondence, 1929-ca 1932, and ca 30 cm of class notes and draft papers stemming from his student years, largely at Louisiana State. There are also files of private correspondence, some addressed to Mrs Andreassen, from the period 1975-1980. Andreassen's diaries cover the years 1936-1940, 1945-1952, 1962-1965, and 1968-1976. They record the working day and are interleaved with memoranda and correspondence, often of a personal nature. Professional files vary in nature with each stage of Andreassen's career, but correspondence and reports are consistent elements. To these may be added copies of surveys and inventories of the Louisiana Historical Records Survey, expense accounts and photographs arising from his work for UNRRA, records of archival deposits and drafts on an institutional history prepared as Archivist of CNR, and annual reports written as McGill Archivist.

Fonds contains correspondence and manuscripts. The correspondence is largely devoted to the Tait family’s property in Nova Scotia and other domestic matters, but there are also files regarding Tait’s work at McGill (1928-1942) and at the Nova Scotia Summer School in Education (1927-1941). The fonds also contains a few letters to and from Vincent Massey (1926-1940). Approximately a third of Tait’s papers are drafts of publications on practical psychology, behaviour and behaviourism, educational psychology, psychopathology and social applications of psychology. (ca 1920-1930).

This file contains a letter from Anne Lawford recounting news of acquaintances and well-wishes for Christmas and the New Year, addressed to Anne's cousin, Reverend Jacob Low of Brockville, mentioning her son John Bowring Lawford.

This file contains one 2-paged handwritten letter, dated June 18, 1943, from J.G. McLeod to Arnold "Arnie" Tifmer. Stationary and envelope have a Royal Canadian Engineers coat of arms in dark blue.

This file contains a handwritten letter from A.M. Browne (Quebec architect) to Rev. Dr. Bethune (Principal of McGill College), September 24, 1838, about plans for McGill College buildings; letter found in Christ Church Cathedral amongst old sheet music by a member of the choir. Also includes notes about letter.

This file contains a letter from Arthur Currie presenting gift of "McGill and its Story 1821-1921" by Dr. Cyrus Macmillan to the President of the Federal Paper Company.

This file contains a letter to Frank G. Gale (then a freshman at Dalhousie University) from J.[V.] Brown, a McGill student, about the "Medicals," 10 November 1872. Accompanied by correspondence from McGill about the letter.

This file contains textual material related to Sir Wilfrid Laurier centenary. Includes essay "Sir Wilfrid Laurier and Lord Minto" by H. Pearson Gundy, a letter to Dr. Lomer, and a speech "Address to be given by Honourable C.G. Power, Minister of National Defence for Air, at McGill University."

These papers contain Forbes' personal files of correspondence and clippings, some design materials and films of McGill football games. The personal files contain biographical materials such as his birth certificate, military commission and service records, and letters concerning his employment at McGill. Other files concern Forbes' designs for decorations for the 1951 Royal Visit, the McGill C.O.T.C., the Forbes Trophy for athletics, Forbes' involvement with McGill athletics and museums, and the career of his brother Kenneth Forbes, a painter. A number of diplomas and certificates awarded Forbes, as well as a photograph album, complete this series. Materials for designs include files on heraldry, a collection of illustrations from 19th century periodicals, designs for the Royal Visit decorations (a few, by Percy Nobbs, were used for the 1939 visit), maps, linocuts, bookplates, and programmes designed by Forbes for McGill events, ca 1925-1950. Thirty-four reels of motion picture film record McGill extramural football games (1947-1951). Films with sound track show the construction of the Currie gymnasium (1939-1940), and demonstrate the swimming techniques of Matt Mann. Additional biographical material is provided by obituary notices and letters of condolence to Mrs. Forbes, and by clippings of articles about Forbes.

Gould's papers fall into two series. Family correspondence covers the years 1856 to 1860, when Joseph and his brother Charles were travelling in Europe, and consists of letters home from both young men, and their parents' replies. Manuscript music comprises two volumes of church anthems, with some organ music; some are original compositions by Gould and Samuel Warren. Related to this is Gould's brief manuscript account of the origin of the Mendelssohn Choir. Some family photographs are also included.
