Part of Expo 67 Collection
Exterior view photograph. Union of Burma Pavilion exterior (lot C-471). The Burma Pavilion was designed according to traditional Burmese pagoda architecture. Detailed wood carvings framing the roofs and lacquered panels were imported directly from Burma. The pavilion's two main elements were its enclosed exhibition space and adjacent glass walled restaurant serving authentic Burmese cuisine. The two were separated by an open air stage. The exhibition spaces showcased native handicrafts such as jewellery and silks. Maps and graphs outlined the country's agricultural and social growth. Multi-layered gable roofs. Structural steel framing for arches. Wood framing for floor and roof joists with suspended concrete slab. Stucco finish on metal lath. (S: 51' x 61' --- A: 5,488 sq. ft. --- H: 38')
