This fonds comprises of the research work of C.A. Brodie-Brockwell. It consists of unpublished manuscripts and notes on early Mediterranean cultures and civilisation, pre-Christian Hebrew, Semitic and Arabian culture, as well as investigations into early calendars and methods of counting (boxes 1- 6, and box 7, files 1-8, 10). Other files include: hand-drawn maps of peoples of Europe in different times (box 7, file 9); lecture named “A New Interpretation of the Parable of the So-Called Unjust Steward” (box 7, file 11); correspondence (box7, file 12); dictionary notebook (box 7, File 13).

The binders with manuscripts are arranged by subjects, discerned from their titles and content.

Charles Albert Edwin Harriss Fonds

Fonds contains manuscript musical scores of Harriss' compositions: pieces for the keyboard, some orchestral works, organ music, part-songs and lieder, religious vocal music and patriotic songs. The rest of the fonds comprises a small amount of correspondence, much of it about the Imperial choir (1910), a photocopy of an autobiography covering the period 1862-1885, photographs of Harriss conducting Empire Day concerts (approximately 1920), and programs, 1890, 1924.

Much of the collection concerns the Canadian Library Council, lnc., 1959 as well as La Semaine des Bibliotheques a Quebec - 1960. There are copies of briefs to the Quebec Government concerning the status of libraries in Quebec. In addition there are the minutes of the Quebec Library Association, starting in 1948. Included are assorted brochures for various library events as well as outlines of extension courses at the University of Montreal and the McGill Library School. There is one group photo taken in 1959.

Collection consists chiefly of an album of photographs and clippings compiled by Cecile (Burroughs) Masson. Captions date the photographs to between 1915 and 1940, with one earlier photograph from 1883 that depicts Cecile and Rodrigue Masson's wedding. Many of the personal photographs depict members of the Masson family taken in Terrebonne, Quebec (where the Masson family home was located), in Ottawa, and during travels to Italy, London, the south of France. There are 28 leaves of full page plates of travel photographs from France, Italy, and Africa. Also included in the album are postcards and newspaper clippings. One series of postcards depicts architecture in Terrebonne, Quebec. The clippings include a letter to the editor written by L. R. Masson (Mrs. L. A. Globensky) and published in the Montreal Star, 1939. Other clippings relate to the S-Plan, a bombing campaign by the Ireland Republic Army, in 1939, as well as the British royal family. The album is half bound in faux black morocco and pebbled cloth boards with the initials C. M. stamped in gilt on the front cover. A caption at the head of the second leaf reads "This album is for mother from Grace", with "mother" crossed out. An inscription on the first leaf reads "This is for my dear daughter Cecile. Many happy memories of the past - affectionately from Mother." The collection also includes two loose black and white photograph portraits, one of which is inscribed to Aunt Cecile.

"Architectural Drawings, 1900-7, 17 drawings." Included are measured drawings of Italian architecture and measured drawings and sketches of architecture in Montreal. In addition, there are five drawings, primarily elevations, of the MacDonald Engineering Building of McGill University depicting the building after it was ruined by a fire on April 5, 1907. The MacDonald Engineering Building was designed by Andrew Thomas Taylor (1850-1937) and George William Hamilton Gordon (ca. 1854-1906) in 1893.

On trouve en outre cinq dessins, surtout des élévations, du pavillon MacDonald de génie de l'Université McGill représentant l'immeuble après sa destruction par le feu le 5 avril 1907. Le pavillon MacDonald avait été dessiné par Andrew Thomas Taylor (1850-1937) et George William Hamilton Gordon (circa 1854-1906) en 1893.

The fonds consists of three scrapbooks, and textual records that include obituaries and letters written in memory of C. P. Martin by McGill faculty and former students, index cards of C. P. Martin's religious reflections on the bible, typed and handwritten sermons, C. P. Martin's nature journal, a copy of Francis Shepherd Memorial Lectures 1953-1956, and some letter correspondence. Two of the scrapbooks document C. P. Martin's personal family life (including family trees depicting five generations, his leisurely interests etc.) and his professional life at McGill, with many newspaper clippings about McGill University and faculty. The other scrapbook contains mostly British Medical Journal clippings (1942-1954).
