Collection consists of a manuscript petition in French written on behalf of Jean Baptiste Lepine for a ferry from Rivière des Prairies to the river end of Île Jésus, dated 12 April 1809. The petition is signed with his mark. The petition also includes the signatures or marks of a number of other signatories, including Jacob Oldham, Roderick Mackenzie, and Simon Fraser. On verso is a docket title and information in English about reciept of the petition and a note that the request was granted.
Consists of a letter to unnamed recipient, probably Roderick Mackenzie. Discusses a number of recently arrived immigrants to Canada from Scotland, along with their occupations.
Includes one letter (in French) to the Hon. Roderick Mackenzie from his son, Roderick-Charles. Letter discusses Mr. Gibbs' loss (a fire burned down his premises), arson in New York and the southern cities in the Union, and provides interesting commentary on social life in Montreal.
Includes three letters addressed to Lieut-Col. Roderick Mackenzie and one letter to addressed to Joseph Masson. The three letters to Roderick Mackenzie are from J.M. Mondelet. The first letter includes Mondelet's regrets at not having been able to give the carrier the Mackenzie's estimated amount. The second letter mentions the Deputy Pay Master of the militia had not yet arrived but a letter received from Mr. Ryland contained the warrant signed by Sir George Prevost and had been shown by Mondelet to McKenzie's sergeant. The third letter mentions Mondelet has paid the amount at the Office of the North West Co. and will pay the officers as soon as the money is received. The letter to Joseph Masson is also from J. M. Mondelet. The letter mentions E. Prevost's creditors, several of whom did not attend a meeting, which was consequently adjourned to the following day.
