The fonds reflects the scientific and literary outreach activities of the Montreal Natural History Society over the course of its existence and contains correspondence, minutes, financial records, council and committee reports, membership lists, donation lists, catalogues of holdings, newspaper clippings, lecture advertisements and weather maps. In addition, the fonds includes reference material to other societies and information regarding the publication and creation of the Canadian Naturalist and Quarterly Journal of Science, Canadian Naturalist and Geologist and the Canadian Record of Science.

Contains 1 bound volume of minutes for the Montreal Fire Club from 2nd April 1786 to 14th November 1814. First 6 pages outline the purpose and engagement of the club members. List of 14 the members appears on page [2].
Minutes of a meeting of the Executors of the last Will and Testament of Simon McTavish held on 14th May 1805. Executors present were William McGillivray, Duncan McGillivray, Joseph Frobisher, Isaac Todd, and James Reid.
Minute book containing the meeting notes of the executors of Simon McTavish's estate. First entry is from meeting dated saturday 14th July 1804 and final entry is for meeting Wednesday 31st December 1806. Each entry contains notes on discussions and actions taken, and records decisions as to future financial decisions. The three executors include Joseph Frobisher, Isaac Todd, and James Reid. Others whose signatures feature in the minutes are Simon McGillivray, William McGillivray, and Duncan McGillivray.
Fonds shows H.R. Griffith's papers and records pertaining to his introduction of the homeopathic remedy curare into anesthesia. The fonds contains correspondence, case records, and reprints, as well as the minute book of the Montreal Homoeopathic Association, 1863-1968.
Included is the constitution, by-laws, and minute books covering 1922-1940. Approximately one half of this material consists of membership cards recording the name, rank, degrees, and publications of members from 1920 until ca 1970. There are also membership lists for various periods including the founding members and lecture lists, ca 1930s. The secretary's files, covering the period 1963-1969, contain files on dues collected, expenditures, membership (nominations, transfers, correspondence with members), the national convention, and chapter meetings. Financial transactions from 1939 to 1946 are recorded in the treasurer's account book.
The major record of the McGill Chapter's early years is a register containing members' signatures, 1911-1969, and minutes from 1912 to 1932; a second minute book covers the period 1960-1969. Approximately two-thirds of the papers are secretary's files from 1961 to 1978 containing membership lists, correspondence concerning prospective members, circular letters announcing meetings, and correspondence with the headquarters of AOA. There are also receipts for initiation fees from 1954 to 1969.
The fonds consists of records created and accumulated in the course of the Montreal Dental Club's activities from 1897 until 1997 and contains administrative files, 1897-1994; minutes, 1897-1994; correspondence, 1930-1995; financial reports/books, 1897-1909, 1934-1947, 1973-1979; scrapbooks and news clippings, 1888-1963; newsletters, 1961-1981; Fall Clinic records, 1938-1939, 1964-1977; copies of the club's journal, Insight, 1989-1995; four histories of the Montreal Dental Club and the McGill Dental School, 1897-1947, 1946-1997, 1997; and four photos and negatives of a club dinner dance. In addition, the fonds includes undated miscellaneous scientific papers.
