      General note

The Montreal architectural firm of Hutchison, Wood and Miller was in existence from 1908 until 1919. William Burnet Hutchison (1865-1959), the son of the architect Alexander Cowper Hutchison (1838-1922), was born in Montreal. Prior to forming a partnership with Wood and Miller he worked for his father's firm. George Winks Wood (1863-1941) was also born in Montreal. In 1877 he received architectural training with the firm of Hutchison and Steele (the firm of Alexander Cowper Hutchison). The third partner, John Melville Miller (1875-1948), was a native of Montreal who trained for eight years in the office of the Montreal architect Alexander Francis Dunlop (1842-1923). From 1898 until 1900 Miller worked in Boston. After his partnership with Hutchison and Wood ended in 1918 Miller practiced alone until his death in 1948. From 1922 to 1927 he shared an office with Charles Jewett Saxe (1870-1943) with whom he designed the Royal Montreal Golf Club in 1923.

      General note
