German Hostess
Item
1 slide photograph.
Interior view photograph. German hostesses talking amongst themselves. The two storey German Pavilion (lot C-454) was both highly sophisticated in it's architectural and structural design and extremely cost efficient. Architecturally striking, it appeared to be a modernist take on a circus tent. The German Pavilion contained exhibition areas emphasizing German industry and technology with historical and cultural displays sprinkled throughout. Also included was a restaurant serving traditional German cuisine, an auditorium and several elevated viewing platforms. Mutli-peaked tent structure. Steel tubes and net, reinforced concrete and timber. Glazed windscreens and walls in wood framing; exposed concrete; built up wood. Translucent polyester membrane. (S: 300' x 340' --- A: 136,000 sq. ft. --- H: 120' (top of highest mast))
