Michael G.C. Ellwood was born in Montreal in 1925 and graduated in architecture from McGill University in 1950. From 1950-1 he was a draughtsman for Fetherstonhaugh, Durnford, Bolton & Chadwick. He returned to the firm in 1956 to become a partner of Durnford, Bolton and Chadwick.
