Legal correspondence related to the circumstances leading to the legal action taken by Mrs. Evans (Dorothy Rhodes, child from Armitage Rhodes’ first marriage) against G.W. Rhodes and Francis B. F. Rhodes, executors of the estate of the late Armitage Rhodes and their successors in office in 1925, Mrs. Rhodes and the Royal Trust Company, 1926-1927. The accusations are : “for having paid out, sometime in 1910, the special legacies created by the Will and for having failed to sell out and convert the whole estate into money and to invest the proceeds in trustee securities” that the sum of 100 000 should have been allocated to the adopted son M.C.K. Rhodes “only on condition that the residuary funds were sufficient to provide a revenue of approx 5 000 a year to each of his children”, which include 2 daughters from second marriage, one of whom was posthumous, as stated by the Will; personal correspondence from Dorothy Evans to G.W.
